YWCA Annual Meeting
YWCA Westfield Annual Meeting
At the Annual Meeting of the YWCA Westfield, members reelected –Deb Higginbotham and Ivelisse Higginbotham to the board and elected Gaye Mason to her first term on the board. Each will serve a three year term on the YWCA Board of Directors. The membership also elected Carol Best and Shannon Bills to the nominating committee.
The evening meeting was opened by co president Loreen Ginnitti and featured the 2009 financial report from the board treasurer, Deb Higginbotham as well as program reports from Luci Petrella and child services report from Brenda Backus, both YWCA staff.
Newly appointed executive director Katie Smith provided the membership with a look forward and the plans for growth and expansion of YWCA activities.
Lori Jafarjian, consultant to the board of directors, reviewed the strategic plan and the introduced the mission and the vision adopted by the board of directors. The YWCA Westfield mission mirrors that of the National YWCA, “….. dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.”
The vision was adopted by the local board and is unique to the YWCA Westfield. It states “YWCA Westfield is the wheel that drives the community.” Local artist Wendy Gollnitz Santilli has designed a wheel logo the gives this phrase life. The community will begin seeing this wheel on our materials” stated Ms. Smith “the national YWCA has designed a logo that speaks to the mission but locally we can add our wheel to our advertising, correspondence and other printed material. Over the next several months this wheel will become more evident and people will begin to recognize it as symbol of their YWCA.”
Co President Loreen Ginnitti added; “our strategic plan is complete, it is a workable document that we plan to share with the community in the upcoming months”
